David Polzin is a graduate of the University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated in 1975. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Georgia in 1981, then returned to the University of Minnesota to complete his doctorate in veterinary medicine. Prof. Polzin has in his resume membership in many professional associations: AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), ACVIM (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine), (AAHA) American Animal Hospital Association, Iris (International Renal Interest Society), Society of Veterinary Nephrology / Urology, VECCS (Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society), MVMA (Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association), ASN (American Society of Nephrology), ISN (International Society of Nephrology) and the National Kidney Foundation. As a professor at the University of Minnesota teaches about diseases and physiology of the kidney and urinary tract infections. He is interested in the research focuses on chronic kidney disease, methods of diagnosis, treatment of acid-base balance and the development of chronic kidney disease, glomerulopatias - pathology, mechanisms and treatment of urinary tract infections and autoimmune hemolytic anemia. His clinical interest focused on clinical nephrology, hypertension, urinary tracts infections and diseases of the lower urinary tract. Prof. Polzin is the author of many scientific publications and co-author of the manual Nephrology and Urology of Small Animals, which he wrote together with Joseph Bartgesem
