Postdoctoral position in biostatistics – ONIRIS ( Nantes-Atlantic National College of veterinary medicine, Food Science and Engineering) – INRA, Nantes , France

Project:

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow in biostatistics to join a multidisciplinary team of biologists, epidemiologists and statisticians in a new funded European project at ONIRIS/INRA ( Nantes , France ) in collaboration with Belgian and Dutch teams. The project aims at developing and evaluating an early detection system for emerging vector-borne diseases in cattle. The system will be based on indicators derived from production data that are routinely recorded in cattle herds (milk production data, reproduction data, mortality, and laboratory data).

Requirements:

    * PhD in a field relevant to this project: biostatistics or epidemiology with solid skills in applied statistics.
    * Knowledge of temporal and spatio-temporal statistical methods.
    * Experience with statistical programming using R and SAS, and/or other programming languages
    * Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey biostatistical principles to colleagues with varying specialties and backgrounds
    * Ability to work either in English or in French

Terms:

    * Full time contract for 18 months
    * The gross salary will range between €1950-2200 per month (depending on previous candidate experience).
    * Starting date between March 2011 and May 2011

Research environment:

The joint research group UMR 1300 ONIRIS - INRA BioEpAR is a multidisciplinary group composed of veterinarians, epidemiologists, biologists, modellers and biostatisticians.
It belongs to the Animal Health department of INRA and to ONIRIS the Veterinary School of Nantes (France)

We are located in Nantes in western France on the Loire estuary, 55 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, 386 kilometers southwest of Paris , 2h by train and 1h30 by plane with regular connections from the Nantes international airport.
